We, at the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), are thrilled and honored that you have accepted our invitation to receive the prestigious ZOA Defender of Israel Award.
Previous recipients of the ZOA Defender of Israel Award include U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, U.S. Senator Jon Kyl, Vice-President Joe Biden, U.S. Senator Sam Brownback, Speaker Tom DeLay, U.S. Senator Connie Mack, Prime Ministers’ Netanyahu and Yitzhak Shamir, former Israeli Defense Sec’y and Foreign Minister Moshe Arens, Deputy Prime Minister of Israel General Moshe Yaalon, Ambassadors Dore Gold, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, Jim Woolsey , John Bolton, and NY Daily News and US News & World Report publisher Mortimer Zuckerman.
We look forward to presenting this award to you on Sunday night, November 20, 2011 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. The VIP Reception is from 5PM to 6PM. Dinner begins at 6PM and should end by 9PM. It would be very exciting for us if you could attend the VIP Reception. Mr. Beck, you are a hero to me and to all of us at ZOA. You are truly a national resource, a giant and a prophet who tells the unvarnished truth about the challenges and dangers facing America, Israel and the world. Thank G-d for you and may G-d bless you. In many ways, you are the Dietrich Bonhoeffer of our day. It has always been our privilege to defend and support you from irrational, ludicrous, and nonsensical attacks that any prophet endures. Jeremiah comes to mind.
Your factual, moral and ethical clarity is unique and rare in the era in which we live. You are the greatest Professor of Truth in the media and so many deeply appreciate your lectures and shows.
The ZOA is the oldest and one of the largest and most active pro-Israel groups in the United States. We were founded in 1897. Past presidents include Justice Louis Brandeis, Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver and Rabbi Stephen Wise. ZOA was the only major Jewish organization to fight for the reestablishment of the Jewish state of Israel. (The Conservative and Reform movements were against it, so were the American Jewish Committee and American Jewish Congress – dual-loyalty charges is what they feared.) A ZOA leader has been chosen by a major Jewish paper, the Forward, as among the most influential leaders in the United States, almost every year in the last 17 years. ZOA leaders have appeared on many major TV and radio shows including ABC’s World News Tonight (4 minute segment on ZOA “Lobbying for Israel” and 25 minute debate with Peter Beinart, former editor of The New Republic magazine.), NBC National News, Jim Lehrer News Hour, O’Reilly Factor, Buchanan & Friends, Donahue, CNN, Fox-TV, CNBC, MSNBC, NPR, BBC, C-Span, VOA, Israel TV/Radio.
